Quezon City Cubao Lions Club once again in support for the Rabies Free Philippines campaign of the Philippine Government in cooperation with the Nat’l Scientist Dr. Teodulo M. Topacio Foundation (TMT) and the SAVER Federation thru the Society for the Advancemnet in Veterinary Education and Research of De La Salle Araneta University organizations, conducted last March 1, 2014- Saturday from 8:30 – 12:30 p.m.a free anti rabies vaccination at Bgy. Krus na Ligas in the area near the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. The cooperating groups were able to immunized 350 dogs and cats and also distributed educational awareness hand outs information all about the fatal disease in Rabies for both human and canine species. The club will continue to do this noble community service activity primarily in depressed communities, were many impoverished families resides and are deprived of free anti rabies shots for the many pets, hence vulnerable to pose danger in the human populace due to unwanted and unprovoked rabies virus exposures through potential dog and cat bites which may cause Human Rabies cases.The service project also is the club’s support as a kick off activity to do free anti rabies vaccination and responsible pet ownership educational campaign for the community, in observance of the National Rabies Awareness in the month of March 2014. The activity is led by its Club President Lion Ressie Maducdoc, Club Membership Chairmperson, Lion Abe Dumlao, also a resident of Bgy. Krus na Ligas and the Anti Rabies project of QCCLC in Chairpersons Lion Doc Rollie Encarnacion, Jr. himself a veterinarian and Lion Engr. Rey Arboleda, together with other great Lions and Ladies on hand from the Quezon City Cubao Lions Club. Watch out for the club’s future and immediate forthcoming free anti rabies shots and rabies awareness educational campaigns in the near future, specifically in the priority areas of Quezon City.
