Araneta Center, home to historic Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City welcomed Lion delegates from all over the Philippines last May 20-22, 2010 for the 61st MD 301 Philippines Lions State Convention. Some 5,000 Lion members and their families in tow, attended the 4 day activities. The major highlight of the convention was the opening plenary held inside the Araneta Coliseum with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Mayor Feliciano Belmonte as special guests and speakers.

The catch phrase “Let’s Make History” coined by the convention organizers led by Quezon City Cubao Lions Club, lived up to expectation. It was the first time that the Lions convention was held in Araneta Coliseum and the Governor’s Ball at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. All official delegates each received their convention kit from the secretariat complete with convention pins, souvenir program, corporate give-aways and convention bag.

The other Lions Clubs who were part of the organizing committee and contributed greatly to the success of the convention were, QC Kawilihan, QC Metro Novaliches, Pasig Host, and Bulacan San Ildefonso. Lion Manny Cuasay of Quezon City Cubao Lions Club chaired the steering committee composed of 2 representatives from each club. The steering committee met regularly for more than a year before the actual convention date.
